I have been working on this layout for several days. First the sketch came through last Thursday from Sketches in Thyme. That day I selected and cropped my photo's.
After a few days, I selected my papers - Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Kraft Resist for my base and Crate Paper Farmhouse Collection - Sweet Corn for my two main pattern papers (I used both sides). I cut to size the papers and punched a border on the main one, stuck down my photo's and set aside again.
Next I mixed some bright green and black paint to get a dark green colour, watered it down and splashed my layout (carefully covering the photo's so there could be no accidents). Again, I set it aside to dry. Once dry, I added gold glitter around the edges to give a subtle frame.
I then selected some buttons and date stamped under the main photo. I started thinking about a title and what story I wanted to capture. I decided to type my story (normally I hand write everything) and use a typewriter font that I had downloaded for free. As a don't have a printer, I had to wait til the following day to get it printed at a friends. I also die cut a couple of circles and added one to my layout (I think I should have inked the circle as the white is a bit more bold than I intended, although it was meant to tie in with the Greek robe Dominic is wearing).
Today, I inked the journalling with yellow, orange, brown and green, cut into strips and adhered to layout. I then added my title - all done in stickers.
I had lots of fun creating this layout, and whilst I used lots of different techniques, it wasn't overly time consuming or difficult. I am very grateful for all I have learnt on May Flaum's Field Guide course.
