When I saw the stash item that was listed on the Paper Secrets challenge, I knew I had to do the challenge even if I hated the sketch (which thankfully I don't hate). The stash item to be used was - 'Project Life' cards. I have quite a few of them even though I don't do Project Life. I'm not sure why, but I don't think about adding them to my layouts without a prompt of some kind.
The sketch is from Becky Higgins Page Maps. The photo sizes she used are not ones I typically scrap with, so I quite liked the idea of them. I loved the banners poking up from the photo's and the circle around the title.
I also liked that I dug into my supply of brads - I seem to have accumulated quite a few in the last couple of months!
Supplies used: Kaisercraft - Miss Match Collection - Knick Knacks (for the PL journal card); Kaisercraft - Check In - Border Stickers and Roam; Create & Craft brads, Dovecraft - Sugar and Spice - Brads.

The Great Outdoors
I used the Kaisercraft Elegance pattern papers and stickers to complete this sketch from Scrap Your Story. I love how the sketch had the circle go under and over layers of paper.
I am wilting in the heat, so am keeping this post very brief so I can go cool myself down.

Yum Yum. I wonder. Can I fit some more in?
My layout is based on the latest sketch from Sketches in Thyme. I managed to use two chipboard elements (one pre decorated and one I inked cocoa brown and spritzed with copper shimmer mist). Aside from the background (Kaisercraft - The13th Hour Collection) everything else was from my scraps drawer.
I chose a photo of my youngest with her mouth very full of food. I have never seen her cram her mouth like that before, she is usually a dainty eater.

The Girl Who Loves Hats
I have been struggling to find motivation to craft since the Camp Scrap class finished. I am definitely the kind of person who loves regular inspiration and interaction with other crafters to see how they have interpreted the same inspiration.
I have been looking at the latest sketch from Sketches in Thyme, trying to find motivation to make a start. I liked the sketch - that wasn't the issue. I quite like sketches with multiple photo's and I certainly like sketches with differing sized photo's.
I have been looking at the latest sketch from Sketches in Thyme, trying to find motivation to make a start. I liked the sketch - that wasn't the issue. I quite like sketches with multiple photo's and I certainly like sketches with differing sized photo's.
So I decided to break it down into small, doable chunks. First I went through my photo's and decided which ones would best suit this sketch (i.e., of all my 4x5.25 photo's, which ones could be cropped down into smaller sizes and still work). Having found some photo's of my daughter trying on hats, I decided which one I wanted to be my focal photo and cropped the remaining three into 2x2 inch squares. And then I walked away.
Next I thought about what pattern papers I had and what might work with the colours in the photo and with the sketch. So I had some idea of what I wanted when I made time to go through my pattern papers. I also grabbed some embellishments that I thought could work with the papers and photo's. And then I walked away.
Lastly, I spent half an hour cutting my papers, distressing the edges, layering and finally sticking them down along with my photo's. I went to my alpha stickers for the title (I didn't want to spend time or effort cutting my own title) and had to work around the letters I had (or didn't have). So my title wasn't exactly what I wanted size wise or word wise, but was okay. I stamped a final few details and first layout in over a week was completed.

Finally! I have lost my first tooth!
I haven't had much time to scrap recently as there is so much end of school year stuff happening with my children. However, I did manage to sneak in a couple of blocks of time where I tackled the latest Sketch N Scrap offering.
I also came across a site called Scrappypedia which encourages you to use your own stash and make your own kits based on a colour scheme they provide.

So I pulled out papers from the above colours to make my own kit. I also made a shadow box to contain my son's first tooth. The end result of the above two was the following layout:
Supplies Used: Papermania Capsule Collection - Sunshine Butterflies; My Minds Eye Good Day Sunshine - Sunny Stripes; Papermania Portebello Road - Urban Stamps; Creative Expressions Mica Mask - Polka Dots.

I did it again
I just found out that my 1.2.3. My sweet family layout was one of the top three in Scrap Your Story's sketch challenge.
I had so much fun making this layout too, so am really chuffed.
And last night I had some crafty fun making three cards either using scrap paper or left over embellishments.
My first card was from a Freshly Made Sketches card design where I used scrap paper and two left over pearls that I had.
The next card uses the last bit of the pattern paper and a design from CAS(E) This Sketch. I put it through a die to shape the ends, added some white gems to the centres of the flowers and then stitched around the edges as a finishing touch.

And then for my last card I followed a principle May Flaum calls the One Thing principle. You chose just one element (a tag, a chipboard piece, a ribbon, etc.) and design your card around that. My one thing was a chipboard piece from Kaisercraft that I could never quite work out how to use. I stamped my background with a Hero Arts script stamp and then inked with yellows and browns. I also found a Kaisercraft tag that went with the chipboard piece so stamped my sentiment on that. I think it still needs something but I'm not sure what.
So, I'm feeling pretty good about my nights crafting.

Hatchlands
This weeks offering from Sketches in Thyme is a multi photo double pager.
I combined the sketch with a challenge from May Flaum's Camp Scrap course to use a white background.
I cropped my photo's to 3"x4" and then found an apricot pattern paper from my stash to make the border and title. Then I rediscovered a box full of goodies I had forgotten I had which contained, amongst other things, Dovecraft Sugar and Spice Glittered Chipboard pieces and 6x6 pad. Having pulled out apricot to match my daughters top, I selected the soft aqua 6x6 paper to highlight my son's top. I didn't want to add to much in terms of pattern papers, so one for journaling and one to frame the photo's is all used. Then I layered the chipboard pieces around, added numbers to the photo's to help my journaling and wrote my story.
This photo doesn't really do the layout justice (bad lighting) because it's a lovely clean crisp layout.
