Creative Play

One thing I have noticed on the Curious Scrapbookers Field Guide course is that May Flaum loves to just play. She often has no end project in mind when she is playing. She just tries different things to see what works and what doesn't.

So I thought I would do some creative play of my own. Not as messy as May - I tend to scrap on my bed as my craft cupboard is in my bedroom due to very limited space - but still using products I wouldn't normally gravitate towards.

I started with a lime green decorative circle I had. It was something I made using a decorative corner punch in a lesson when going to a monthly cropping club. I loved the decoration, but lime green isn't a colour I tend to use much. So my first step was to dab white acrylic paint all over it to tone down the lime green. After it was dry I used my Hero Arts script stamp - first I tried a dark green, but that didn't really come through, so I tried again with brown and that worked a treat.

Next I decided to try making more decorative circles, but the only corner punch I have is a corner rounder. Never mind, if that's what I had, that's what I would use. By following the same principles I had learnt all those many months ago, I found out that my corner punch makes good flowers! I used brown wax paper and made three 'flowers'. One I crumpled up and quite liked the texture effect. The other two I simply stamped with my script stamp. I then used a flower punch and some scrap paper to punch flowers and joined them altogether using some brads I had.
